Salmon is Picking Up

With it being the end of week four of salmon fishing we figured you would want to know how it has been! Beginning of the season was rough; but each week brought more and more fish to our boats. According to the Westport Charter Boat Association, the amount of Chinook has been great but the Coho are still lacking for the entire fleet.  Week one was only about a 4 fish average. Week two an average of 4-6 fish, mostly Chinook. Week three jumped to an average of 8-9 fish with a mix of Chinook and hatchery Coho. Week four we were averaging 9-10 fish with a mix of Chinook and hatchery Coho.

We have been doing combination trips for the betterment of the season, which is the likely reason why we had less salmon on the boat. That gives our customers the chance to go for seabass, lingcod, and salmon. Our bass fishing has been a hit with limits being caught. It gives people a good chance of having a decent catch to take home.

We have been having a great time with our customers out on the ocean. New friendships have been made all around and we couldn’t be happier! Remember folks, charter fishing is about the experience- not just the catch.

Best,
